This adhyaya consists of 461 slokas and the main topics dealt with are elimination of Asura Kirmira and his juniors by Sri Bheemasena and also the story relating to Salva’s war.
The 3rd adhyaya consists of Hatavaada, that is action or agency of the soul which is most important topic under vedanta. all the philosophers in the universe, both in the west and in the east were unable to solve the position. Srimad Acharya by this adhyaya has pointed out the main three reasons thereby the doctrine is proved and also there will not be any partiality of cruelty on the part of Paramaatma. Unless one understands this properly, building further Vedanta will be only equivalent to a building without foundation.
The conversation between Dharma raja and Sri Bheemasena is simply superb and marvellous. This Adhyaya also deals with Arjuna receiving Pashupatha weapon, Sri Krishna’s Yatra to Kailasa, elimination of Poundraka, Ekalavya and Sudhakshina Raja and Mainda and Vividha. Balarama’s dragging of Yamuna river and changing the direction is also dealt with.
